Do You Have a Wart?

Do You Have a Wart?

Warts on the feet are a very common problem.  The wart is caused by a virus that can be found just about anywhere.  If you have a small scratch or scrape on the bottom of the foot, that can be an entry point for the virus.  The virus lives in the level of the skin where the small blood vessels are called capillaries.  Because of this, it is common to see small dark spots inside the wart.  This is often thought to be a splinter or foreign body but is the wart itself.  Treating a wart begins with the painless removal of the top layer of the callus that is covering the wart.  After this, there are several options for topical medications to remove the wart.   Your provider will evaluate you and discuss which option might be best based on your age, activity level and other health conditions.  It is very important to make sure the wart is treated until complete resolution, otherwise, it can grow right back.  If you think you have a wart or another foot/ankle problem.  Please call us at 972-542-2155 to be evaluated.
